RSM Councilman Petrilla Votes to Ban Sex Offenders from Parks

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA - Thursday, July 28, 2011 – The Rancho Santa Margarita City Council last night approved a draft ordinance which would ban all registered sex offenders from parks in the city.

“There is a reason these people are called predators,” said Council Member Jesse Petrilla, “These are not the types of criminals who can one day turn their life around, these are dangerous people who are sick in the head and they prey upon our children.”

Council Member Petrilla’s support for the ordinance follows on his proposal of a child safety fair at the July 13th council meeting, continuing his commitment to public safety.

“My colleagues on the council should be commended for supporting the ordinance to ban sex offenders from our parks, as well as for supporting the idea of holding a child safety fair,” said Petrilla, “We must always continue to put our children and residents first.”

The ordinance, first introduced by Council Member Steve Baric, is modeled after one passed by the Orange County Board of Supervisors on April 5th which makes it a misdemeanor for registered sex offenders to enter county parks without written permission from the Sheriff.

Jesse Petrilla was elected in November of 2010 to the Rancho Santa Margarita City Council. He is an officer serving as a tank Platoon Leader in the California National Guard and recently returned from nearly four months of active duty. The next city council meeting is scheduled for August 10th at 7:00 PM at RSM City Hall.

Chuck DeVore needs your support!

Friday, July 1st, 2011

My good friend Chuck DeVore is running for Orange County Supervisor. I am proud to give him my endorsement and full support. Chuck has the values that we in California desperately need in more elected leaders, and we need to do whatever we can to help him attain victory. Please see the following release from Chuck, and consider supporting his efforts with your contribution.

The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC Endorses Chuck DeVore for Orange County Board of Supervisors
The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC, California’s foremost defender of taxpayers’ rights, announced its endorsement of former State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore in his campaign for Orange County Board of Supervisors, 3rd District.

Jon Coupal, the President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, the largest taxpayers association in California with a membership of over 200,000, said, “Chuck DeVore is a proven advocate for California’s overtaxed citizens. Importantly, he understands the tremendous pressure that California’s government employee unions have placed on California taxpayers. Chuck DeVore will work for government reform and The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC is proud to support his efforts.”

Chuck DeVore said, “This endorsement sends a key message that I am the proven fiscal conservative in this campaign to represent the people in eastern Orange County’s Third District. I cannot overstate its importance and I am honored to have the support of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC.”

Chuck DeVore served in the California State Assembly from 2004 to 2010. He sought the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate against Barbara Boxer in 2010. Prior to his service in the legislature, he worked in the aerospace industry in various leadership positions. Mr. DeVore is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army (retired) Reserve.
