Discussion agendized for upcoming September 14th City Council meeting
Last year, when I was first elected to city council, I made a pledge to the voters to serve no more than two terms. A seat on the council, up for re-election every four years, serves as a way for residents to give back to the community, and I believe there is no reason that cannot be accomplished in under eight years.
This is one reason why I have placed an item on the agenda of our upcoming city council meeting to discuss adding a term limits measure to the ballot of next year’s election.
Directly electing our mayor
Currently, the position of mayor is appointed by the council majority. I have heard a desire from many residents to have a mayor that is directly elected by the people, and I have also agendized for discussion at the next meeting the possibility of adding a measure to the ballot which would eliminate one council seat, replacing it with a directly elected mayor position.
I would like to hear your thoughts on both these matters, and invite you to please speak at our next city council meeting, Wednesday, September 14th at 7:00 PM, 22112 El Paseo, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688.

Much appreciated for the information and share!
