KEY ISSUES FOR 2011 & 2012:
Pension Reform
-
California's state government is facing, along with many cities in our wonderful state, an unsustainable pension model which will almost certainly result in severe economic troubles far greater than we see today if this issue is not adequately addressed. We have an opportunity to address this issue one city at a time. As an advocate for common sense fiscal conservatism, I look forward to working with my fellow council members in our community on this issue and hope to set our city as an example for others.
Economy / Fiscal Responsibility:
- I will always work to make Rancho Santa Margarita the most business friendly city in Orange County, putting our community on the road to economic recovery. I believe this can be attained by streamlining our conditional use permit process, and eliminating unnecessary permits wherever possible, making our city attractive to potential new businesses, and encouraging existing ones to expand.
- We must reprioritize our spending in light of the current economic situation. Government must operate like any business would in tough times, doing more with less.
- I will not vote to establish new taxes or "fees", and vow to not vote for tax increases. I will always continue to work to reduce existing ones wherever and whenever possible.
- I will always support federal and state candidates who favor protecting local government revenue.
Public Safety:
- I will work to re-establish positions of public safety officers that have been unfortunately eliminated. Rancho Santa Margarita must remain one of the safest cities in the state.
Limited, Transparent Government:
- I believe complete transparency must exist in the Rancho Santa Margarita government. It must remain ethical and open in all business transactions.
- I believe that we must always be fiscally conservative, and have complete transparency in our government to ensure accountability.
241 Toll Road:
I support the completion of the 241 Toll Road. This will both improve our economy and provide much needed alleviation of traffic on the 5 freeway. |
